Our Year in review, and Pipers first birthday

On December 29th Piper Elizabeth Hedlund will be ONE year old. I can't believe it. Everyone tells you that it goes by so fast, but you don't believe them. It really does. I can;t believe that last year at this time I had never met her. My life is soooo much better with her in it. She is my miracle and I love her more everyday. I love being her mommy. There is nothing else in the world that I would want to do.
I was going to wait till her actul birthday to post this, but our week is insane starting tomorrow. We have a wedding tomorrow, Sunday I have rehearsal for Christmas eve, then another one on Monday, Tuesday Rik has reahearsal, and Wednesday is Chrismas Eve, then Thursday we are leaving to go out of town. So today it is!!
Piper is walking and talking now, She has been eating big girl food for a month now. She has such a personality now. She still is not sleeping through the night, but we know why. She loves to sing and clap her hands in worship on Sundays. She also loves to dance. I can't believe how big she is. Well here is our year in pictures!

So technically this is 2007, but this is the day Piper was born. Dec. 29th, 2007 at 6:54 pm. I was in Labor for 12 hourswith no epidural, then 3 more hours with an epidural. Her heart rate started droppinginto the 20's and the 40's and mine into the 60's. My blood pressure fell dangerously low, and I was out of it. They decided to do an emergency c'section, and found out her cord was too short, if they hadn't done a c'section we both would have died.

Here she is minutes after she was born. Her respirations were too fast so they had to take her to the NICU. Luckily it was only for 6 hours. We brought her home New Years Eve.

This was in February the first time my mom babysat her away from our house.

3 months

On March 27th we welcomed my beautiful nephew Timothy Wayne Leckie Jr. into the world. He was 2 weeks early and spent a week in the NICU, but is now healthy and happy!

In April, Rik got a new job at Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock Arkansas. We packed up everything and moved in to the house above.

Here we are in May

In June with her cousin TJ

July 4th

September. Watching the Tigers!!

Halloween. She was a sock monkey!!

November. Her 1st Thanksgiving!

December!! Merry Christmas!

So we are having Christmas with my parents and then a party for Piper, then we are driving to Dallas and having Christmas with Riks parents and a party for Piper. Then we are driving home and on the 10th we will have a party for Piper here in Little Rock. I will post Pictures form all of them after the holidays.
Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year!

This is getting ridiculous

Obama hasn't even been the president elect for 24 hours yet, and already christians around the world are mourning the death of a nation. I mean come on people. Chill out. Did God fall off His throne?????? I don't think so. Are we forgetting what was said in Romans 13:1-2?

"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves."

God has allowed him to win this seat, and we should pray for and support him. I'm sick of all the "doom and gloom". Don't get me wrong, I didn't vote for him, and I am not defending his beliefs. but what about our beliefs, is our faith so tied to this nation, that we would say the world is over because the man we voted for wasn't elected. God is still in control. God has a plan. We should not hate Obama, or even bash him. We should not live in fear. So this man believes in things that are not Gods heart, God is still in control. Our country is in financial turmoil, God is still in control. So all the doom and gloom should stop. The hateful comments and snide remarks should stop. Instead fall to your knees. Pray. Pray for wisdom and strength for Obama, pray for peace. How will the lost be reached if we as christians are spewing hatred towards a leader that God allowed to win. Where is our faith, our courage, our hope? is it in Obama, or the stock market? The answer should be that it is in the Lord. He is bigger than this country, if it falls, He will still be in control. We will still be safe in His arms. For encouragement read Psalm 91.
And remember the scripture:
Proverbs 21: 1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.

Trust in the Lord, because He does not make mistakes. Pray for our nation, Pray for our leaders, Pray for our unborn, and Pray for our troops. God did NOT fall off his throne last night.

Piper Video

Piper fed the dogs some bread tonight and here is what happened....

So we went to Dallas last weekend. It was fun and hell all rolled into one. We go there Thursday night, and we had dinner with Tim and Katie, made plans for the next day, went to Riks parents, then Wal mart, and then back to Tim and Katies to go to bed. Friday morning Katie and I got up early and took TJ for his surgery. Rik went to his parents, and then we all met back at the house. We all loaded up and went to Roger and Michelles for dinner.
We were having fun eating and hanging out, when Rik started throwing up, we had to cut the evening short, This is where hell came into play. We made it home, and Rik threw up ALL night, then that morning, Tim started. Katie and I took the kids and went to breakfast with Riks family. I then dropped Katie off, picked up Rik and we went to his brothers to have pictures done. I will post some of them at the end. We then we back to Tim and Katies and everyone felt better and we had dinner and gave the babies a bath, then off to bed. I thought all the bad was over, but I was wrong. We had washed the sheets since the boys were sick and we put some other sheets on the bed. these sheets had been in the closet for a while, and were washed with a diffrent fabric softner. So we wake up the next morning, and I am covered with a rash. Apparently I was allergic to the fabric softner. We went to church and then lunch , then hung out with James and Suzanna and Sarah. we left, and drove back home.
We enjoyed the weekend with family and friends, but were really really sick.
Ok now for some pics!

Been a while....

Well my Mac died, so I have not been able to update the Family website. So with the help of Katie I have gotten my old blog up and running. I really have nothing to say right now, as I am really tired and need to go to bed..., we have internet again at the house though, so I will update Monday about our fun filled weekend.

So, Rick got a job offer to go work at a church  in Little Rock. We have been praying about it for a few weeks and haven't heard a yes, but we have a peace and an excitement about it. It weird to think about not living in Texas. They are having a meeting to discuss what they can pay him on Monday, then they are going to fly him out to do and interview. Depending on how that goes, then they will fly all 3 of us out, and well see how we like the church. If all goes well, then we could be moving in May most likely. Anyways thats all I know right now, but I will continue to update...Gotta go change the baby.

My terrible week and it only Wednesday

SO here we go

Sunday- Rick woke up at 4:30 with diarrhea and throwing up every 30 minutes. I thought that he had food poisoning cause exactly 6 hours before he had eaten taco bell. well he tell me and Piper to go to church, so we went. I had  a great time. I came home, and he was still sick, but hadn't thrown up in a while, so I thought he was getting better. Well I was wrong, I took his temp at 6:30 and it was 103.6. At that point he was weak, dizzy, and could barely open his eyes cause his head hurt so bad, so I decided we were goin to the ERI called Tim and Katie to see if they could watch Piper while we were ther, cause there was no way I wazs taking her with us. They said they would be right over, and while they were on their way I thawed out some breast milk. I only thawed one bottle cause I knew we wouldn't be there that long.
We got there and there were a million people in the waiting rrom and I thought we would be waiting forever, but they called us back ten minutes after we got there and put us in a room. the doc came in and took some blood work and poked around a bit, and said he was severely dehydrated and had an infection, so he started him on 2 giant bags of saline, and 2 antibiotics, and Dilotid for the pain. well like ten minutes later the nurse came in and put him on oxygen cause he was getting enough. well this really freaked me out. After the 1st round of fluids, the nurse said he had one more round but if his vitals weren't stable then they were going to keep him over night. Well ends round 2 and he is staying over night. It is now 2 in the morning so I run home to pump and check on my mom who relieved Tim and Katie at 10:30 and realize I hadn't eaten since 1 that afternoon. mom made me a sandwich and I grabbed some things and threw them in a  bag and went back to the hospital. He was worse when I got back, they had given him more meds and some phenergan, his fever was still high and he looked like death warmed over. so I grab the sleeper chair and try to sleep.  I have decided to find the person that invented these things and drag them in the street to be shot, then Have them recover in this chair. It sucks, I don't know how Rik did it when I had Piper. Well at one point his oxygen dropped so low the alarm started going off, and the nurse comes running in and tells me that he has sleep apnea and we need to get him on a c-pap machine. No a good night.
Monday- I woke up at 6 and called his boss and told him we were in the hospital and Rik wouldn't be coming in. I told Rick I was headed home to feed the baby and relieve my mom. the nurse said he was doing fine and they would send him home in probably an hour or so. So I go home Piper is still asleep , so I go lay down for about 30 minutes and then Rick calls and said to come get him. He still felt bad so he slept most of the day. I made him an appointment for the following morning with his Dr at 10:45, well I realize Piper needs her shots and they are in the same building why not kill 2 birds with one stone. So I make her appointment @ 1 . that gives us plenty of time to do his appointment and me to feed her then get her shots. Well by the evening I am felling kinda yucky myself, but I figure lack of sleep. Piper decides that she is going to eat every two hours for like 30-45 minutes each time, and screams when she wakes up like she is starving. I am in tears having only had 2 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours.
Tuesday- we get to Ricks appointment and the Dr is behind, we didn't get in to see him till 12:15. So Piper is fussy cause it is time to eat, and I am feeling terrible, I mean doubled over in pain from my stomach hurting. Well the Dr takes so long I had to take Piper upstairs for her appointment, Rik makes it in time for them to call us back they give her the shots, she screams and we rush home. now at this point I am feeling like I am going to vomit everywhere. So we give Piper Tylenol and then I feed her and she sleeps the rest of the day, but every time we move her she screams because of her poor little legs. I ate some soup and then later some toast and felt all right and we went to bed.
Wednesday- Rik is much better and heads off to work I wake up feeling like if I move I will die, but Piper is hungry I feed her and she falls asleep, so Do I. We spent the whole day in bed napping off and on. I felt terrible. I finally ate something at like 8:30 and felt much better, but here I sit not being able to sleep, still feeling a bit nauseated.
I really hope tomorrow will be better. I don't think I can handle much more.

Sorry about the length of this, but I thought you might all like an update.

I posted a blog on myspace about csections and how tired I am of being made to feel like a failure cause I had one. I am just as much a mom as anyone else, and I labored for 14 hours 12 of wich with no epidural. I had no choice. But I still worked my ass off. Check out my other blog to read it.

Piper Likes TV

So she is still sick, but doing alot better.  So we got Rush Hour 3 on Netflix, and were watching it during dinner. Rick was finished first so he held Piper while I ate. I looked up and she was watching the movie, I mean staring really hard at the TV screen, if you moved her she would fuss, she watched the whole movie without squirming. It was funny, so I thought I would write a bog about how my daughter likes Jackie Chan movies. Funny huh.

Well tomorrow night we are going to go to Tim and Katies house to hang out, so I hope Piper does ok. Then Friday morning at 8 am she is getting her shots. My mom is going with me, cause Rick can't take any more time off work. I am really worried. Everyone has said to give her tylenol before we go, but I can't cause she is sick, and the Dr wants an accurate tempature before he gives her her shots. So my poor baby is going to have to wait till after, but I am taking it with me and going to give it to her right there in the office.
There is one good thing that has come out of her being sick, and that is I have a stockpile of breast milk in the freezer now, cause she just is not eating as much, so I am having to pump alot. So now we will be able to have my mom and rix mom babysit, without me having to pump so much. I just wish it had been under better circumstances. Anyways going to eat my ice cream then feed the baby!

Thursday, February 21, 2008

I am sitting here waiting on rik to come home so we can eat. I am really hungry but so is Piper, so I need to feed her. Tomorrow is rix birthday, so go to his myspace and wish him happy birthday.
He will be 29
we are having a birthday shabbot!! Can't wait.
Anyways gotta feed the baby now.
